Alex McConnell

“The Technical Treat” Alex McConnell was an RWL regular in the truest sense, turning up again and again across the promotion’s history.

He first showed his face at Best of the North West, representing his home promotion HGWA, and popped up again at Overdose. In the years that followed he appeared across the backyard, underground and professional eras of RWL, each time in a different capacity.

A UKBYW favourite known as Cruiserfan, McConnell was a genuine delight to watch: technically gifted, a great brawler and blessed with a charisma all his own. He was a mainstay of NAW, where he picked up plenty of accolades.

In the 2011 RWL Pro events he often teamed with fellow HGWA original Mike McKnight as The Manchester Connection. Later, after joining Runcorn Wrestling Alliance (RWA) and reinventing himself for the UK pro scene as Jonathan Alexander, he returned to RWL alongside another HGWA original, Chris Goodwin, then known as Chris Von Sharpe. Together they were The Vanguard.

Two names, several eras, and the same high standard throughout.
